A hulking figure, tainted with evil, is emerging from the murky depths of the Valdari Swamp, spreading pestilence and plague wherever he steps. Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the Bol’Goreth Lieutenant Pack expansion forDescent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition!
Bol’Goreth stands ready to bring the overlord’s poisonous schemes out of the swamp and into the rest of Terrinoth with this new Lieutenant Pack. In addition to replacing your lieutenant token with a sculpted plastic figure in every quest that includes him, this Lieutenant Pack also invites the overlord to summon Bol'Goreth into any quest outside of his campaign as an agent. The Bol'Goreth Lieutenant Pack also includes a Plot deck of specialized cards, which can be triggered during encounters by using threat tokens.
Bol'Goreth is the overlord's lieutenant in The Trollfens expansion, but now, the heroes will never be safely out of reach of this ferocious troll again. The overlord prepares to ravage the land with disease and poison, with Bol'Goreth as a willing agent. The Bol’Goreth Lieutenant Pack includes a sculpted figurine, threat tokens, and a personalized Plot deck, allowing you to spread Bol’Goreth’s particular breed of chaos across the realm.
A Destructive Adversary

The troll from the swamps can be an aggressive fighter, but he can be used best when your mind is on the long game. Rather than pouring all of your strength into crushing the heroes with immediate damage, you can use Bol’Goreth and his Plot deck to wear the heroes down with the Poisoned and Diseased conditions. By sapping the heroes of stamina and health with these conditions, you can slow them down a bit at a time until they’re too weak to oppose your dastardly plans.
Bol’Goreth himself is a formidable foe when you summon him to the battlefield as an agent, possessing the ability to inflict both disease and poison with a single blow. Whether the troll is present or not, the overlord’s unclean powers are only increased by Raging Infection, Bol’Goreth’s ten-card Plot deck. When you tap the powers of Raging Infection, you begin with the insidious power of Plague Release, ensuring that the heroes must treat even one of their own with caution as long as he is Poisoned or Diseased. But your possibilities for wreaking havoc on the heroes with Bol’Goreth and his Plot deck doesn’t stop there.
You can turn your master monsters into carriers of poison and disease withInfected and Envenom, allowing you to bring the heroes closer to incapacitating sickness with every turn. To hasten the heroes’ decline into frailty, Weakness Within ensures that the heroes’ time is limited as they take extra damage from their conditions. If the heroes are persistent in shaking off your plague, Fetid Stench and Weakened Spirit can force them to keep their conditions, both immediately and for the long term. You can even use Mass Mutation, temporarily healing the heroes of all conditions, but rewarding you with a massive amount of threat, allowing you to trigger more Plot cards to thrust the heroes back into a world of pain.
Make Them Suffer!

Bol’Goreth awaits your command to become the agent of your will, spreading crippling disease and deadly poisons across the land of Terrinoth. Those who would dare to stand in the overlord’s path must face the infection contained within the Bol’Goreth Lieutenant Pack. Look for this Lieutenant Pack in retail stores in the first quarter of 2014!

Laughing, Ariad surges power through her hands and the scrying stone crumbles to pieces in the heroes’ grasp.“Do not despair in your failure,” she says, smiling. “You face a power far beyond your comprehension and meager capabilities. I’d suggest you give up, but of course you wouldn’t listen. It’s just as well; I prefer a challenge, however minor it may be...”
Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of four new Lieutenant Packs for Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second EditionAriadQueen AriadSerena, and Raythen. These upcoming Lieutenant Packs feature both old enemies and old friends from the Labyrinth of Ruin expansion!
In addition to allowing you to replace your Labyrinth of Ruin lieutenant tokens with dramatically detailed figures, theseLieutenant Packs allow the overlord to summon any of these lieutenants into any quest outside of the Labyrinth of Ruin campaign as an agent. Each Lieutenant Pack also introduces a Plot deck of specialized cards, which can be triggered during encounters by spending threat tokens.
Emerging from the ruined city of Sudanya, both Ariad and her spider form, Queen Ariad, stand ready as devoted agents of the overlord, alongside Serena and Raythen. However, Serena and Raythen were not always devoted to the overlord, and their Lieutenant Packs invite you to decide their fate by including a sculpted plastic figure for both the good and evil versions of these conflicted characters. With the Hero sheets included in their Lieutenant Packs, you can use either Raythen or Serena as fully playable heroes, or you can use their Plot cards to spread the evil of the overlord.
Ariad
Heroes across Terrinoth will have new reason to fear the overlord when he unleashes this deadly agent against unsuspecting foes. As one of the overlord’s most cunning agents, Ariad keeps the heroes off balance with her Dark Illusions Plot deck.
The overlord can disguise his dark schemes with the mirages and phantoms contained in this Plot deck, using them to fool the heroes and keep them off guard en route to their ultimate demise. Meanwhile, your monsters with the Cursed trait will reap the benefits of Ariad’s influence, and with Phantasm, you can lead the heroes on a merry chase.
Queen Ariad
Ariad is equally deadly in the shape of the enormous spider, Queen Ariad, and when you play the campaign fromLabyrinth of Ruin, this sculpted lieutenant figure will dramatically illustrate her transformation into Queen Ariad.
Alternatively, you can summon Queen Ariad to other quests as an agent, and her Tangled Web Plot deck ensures that you can continue to deceive the heroes before luring them to a sudden and inescapable demise. Queen Ariad’s Plot deck features several cards to ensnare the heroes, especially when combined with the overlord’s Trap cards. Your Wilderness monsters will get boosts from Tangled Web as well, especially from the Hidden Predator card, which grants your monsters a powerful bonus whenever they attack from out of sight of the heroes. The heroes will never be sure where the next attack will come from as your monsters quickly dart in and out of sight.
