I know always that I am an outsider; a stranger in this century and among those who are still men.
     –H.P. Lovecraft, The Outsider

An influential film director is holding a screening of his latest production in the abandoned estate Whale Manor, and you’ve been asked to attend! There’s just one catch: Whale Manor is haunted by the spirits of dead actors, all of whom are cursed to relive the drama of their films again and again.
House of Fears, a Print on Demand story expansion for Mansions of Madness, is now available on our webstore! This cinematic adventure by acclaimed novelist Tracy Hickman thrusts players into a living 1920’s movie. But can they escape the horror before the film’s tragic ending?
What is Print on Demand?
Print on Demand is an exciting process that allows Fantasy Flight Games to produce professionally finished cards on a made-to-order basis, which opens up new opportunities for expanding existing games.
This process (not to be confused with Print and Play), results in smaller print runs of professionally manufactured products, allowing publishers to provide fans with content that would otherwise not be commercially viable. A Word from the Designer
Designer Tracy Hickman took time to share his insights into House of Fears:
House of Fears was a dark chocolate delight for me. Movies were a huge obsession during the ‘20s and ’30. Horror films like ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’, ‘Nosferatu’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Dracula’ and ‘Frankenstein’ all were powerful in establishing the genre in the public mind and their resonance continues today. ‘Mansions of Madness’ offered the perfect opportunity to relive both those golden days of Hollywood and the horror films that chilled us forever. ‘Whale Manor’ where our horror takes place is named after James Whale, the director of the original ‘Frankenstein’ film and I’ve taken gleeful delight in sprinkling other homage moments throughout the play of the scenario.

I’ve even managed to use the components of the game in a new and innovative way so that the reels of the film within the story impact the play in a meaningful and frightful way.

Yog-Sothoth has gone Hollywood... and I hope you can stick around for the end of this nightmare movie ... if there’s an end to the movie...

This exciting story expansion is available for order now, so visit our Mansions of Madness POD description page to learn more, then head to our webstore to order yours!
Note: Due to variations in the printing process, cards from Print on Demand expansions will be subtly different in appearance and texture from base game cards. For this reason, 16 of the 48 cards in this expansion are reprinted from the base game to retain a consistent appearance when shuffled, and 32 are unique to House of Fears.
