“The Emperor will show you the true nature of the Force. He is your master now.”

–Darth Vader, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
Star Wars™: The Card Game is a head-to-head Living Card Game® that allows two players to command the Star Wars universe’s most iconic heroes, villains, droids, and starfighters. Support the dark side’s conquest of the galaxy, or fight alongside the Rebel Alliance and its allies to keep the fires of freedom alive. Star Wars: The Card Game provides fast, tactical combats; dramatic edge battles; and a window into the struggles between the dark and lightsides of the Force™!
We’ve already explored how the game breaks new ground with its innovative model for deck-building. We’ve looked, too, at how designer Eric Lang focused on the game’s ability to create “cinematic moments.” Most recently, we've reviewed the dramatic bluffing, tension, and consequences of the game's critical edge battles.
Now, the game’s rules (pdf, 9.9 MB) are available on its support page. Players at the FFG World Championship Weekend were the first to get their hands on the Star Wars Core Set and dive into the rules, but now you, too, can download and explore them. See for yourself how the game’s rules create tense conflicts and force players to make dynamic decisions about how to use the cards they have in their hands.
More Previews to Come
Players worldwide are anxiously awaiting the game’s release, and while you wait, we’ll go into greater depth about some of the game’s aspects addressed in the rules. Yes, by reading the rules, you can learn how the Force struggle works, but we’ll take a look at just how pervasive and far-reaching its effects can be. We’ll also look at how the game's different affiliations pursue different strategies and how combining objective sets from two or more affiliations can alter the personality of your deck.
There’s much yet to come as you wait for the game’s release, but for now, you can download the Star Wars: The Card Game core rules and discover the true nature of the Force!
